Good morning, everyone!  Today we have such a lovely treat for you-a French inspired Houston wedding. Held at The Gallery in Houston, an old-world, Mediterranean-style venue, this bride transformed the space into Provencal paradise.   The florals by Bergner & Johnson are absolutely stunning and I love the set-up of the ceremony space.  Sarah Austin did an amazing job with the photography.  You can check out even more images on her blog.

From the Bride...My vision was earthy and natural with Provencal influences.  We selected The Gallery as the venue because it was a "clean slate" and offered many interesting spaces for our guests to mingle indoor and out.  The ceremony took place on one of the terraces at sunset.  My cousin, Matt Ramsey, played the acoustic guitar and sang while guests arrived and during the processional.  Our reception immediately followed with a live band and fare ranging from sushi to beef filet skewers and lamb.  The Drywater Band kept us dancing all night and Café Natalie made sure every guest was catered too.  Sarah Austin was a joy to work with; her photography captured every special moment of the evening with grace.

The décor was definitely a labor of love.  Interior design is my profession so planning the tablescapes and the overall theme of the wedding was close to my heart in many ways.  Needless to say, the aesthetics were important.  Using a combination of fresh lavender, sage, olive, blue thistle, cream garden roses, olive topiaries, and amnesia roses I was able to create a natural and elegant environment.  We used antique French lanterns on the tables and hung them from the trees with candles; this added a touch of romance.  Antique French urns and large biot jars filled with flowers anchored the linen swaged arbor where the ceremony took place.  Antique French wooden bowls and stone vessels were used as containers throughout the venue with loosely arranged flowers.  The outdoor dining area was one of my favorite spaces.  We used antique linen table clothes on the tables with a mixture of garden chairs.  Just beyond that space, a long wooden farm table was used to display the bridal portrait and sign in book. An oversized lantern with a candle hung over the dance floor and swags of olive were used to soften the railings, columns, and chair backs.  Silver julep cups and glass urns with flowers reflected the candle light on the tables.  Fresh amnesia roses were place down the wedding cake and antique white cake plates displayed the pies.

The bridesmaid's dresses were by Priscilla of Boston and they carried simple cream garden roses tied with jute.  Mothers and Grandmothers carried small bouquets of fresh lavender.  My bouquet was beautiful, wrapped with jute I carried long stemmed roses with olive and blue thistle.  Chris wore a grey suite with a blue thistle flower on this lapel.

With the help of our wonderful family and friends, Chris and I together planned our dream wedding.  Chris was a part of and excited about every decision made, his biggest request being apple pie instead of a traditional groom's cake.  We were both born and raised in Texas and are proud of our roots and look forward to our future in Houston.  However, when it came to our wedding we created a destination unlike typical Texas.  We wanted our guests to feel like they had escaped the crowded streets of Houston and for the evening they were in the South of France.
